Default Question about stagger/non-stagger

Okay so if I get 17x9 rpf1's all around and get 215-45-17 front and 245-40-17 rear tires. Would that allow me to still maintain the staggered factory fitment? Reason for this is once my driving skills get better and if I decide to move up to 255's all around, 17x9 would allow me to do that, instead of having to buy another set of wheels. Thanks

Maintaining factory stagger on non-factory sizes is pointless IMO. If you are upgrading to non-staggered wheels then you should use non-staggered tires. If you want to drive around on factory sizes to learn the car more than you should try to pick up a set of AP2 wheels with good tires and when the time comes upgrade to the RPF1's. If I were you I would go straight to the RPF1's with 255's and be done with it.

Learn to adapt to what ever your driving. Practicing with 215/245 isn't going to prepare you for driving 255 square, it will completely change how the car behaves and performs and require adjustment in your driving. Adding more traction isn't the same as adding more power. Your increasing your safety margin, not reducing it.

Any supporting suspension mods (e.g. stiffer front bar)? What is your usage, what is the car's purpose? If not a track car and if you're not competing, and if no supporting mods, you might stick with staggered tires on staggered wheels (17x8F 17x9R, or AP2 wheels).

Or you could run 235/40 fronts and 255/40 rears on 17x9 all around, which would be an easier front fitment and be more compatible with stockish suspension.

In any case, I wouldn't run 215s on 9" wheels. A bit of a stretch, 8" is the max wheel width for 215/45.

My suspension is all stock right now. I do spirited runs in the mountains and also go to autox whenever I have the time. Haven't gone to track yet. I was also thinking about buying a saner replica bar.

I agree 235/40 - 255/40 stagger on 9" all around would be a better option overall. Dont worry about a front sway bar right now. This stagger will perform great without it.

Okay thanks!

There doesn't seem to be that many tire choices in 235-40
What if i went with 235-45?

235/45 is too tall, not a good choice. The old RE11 comes in a 235/40 and the new Z2 as well. There may be some others, but these are the best tire options right now in the category so I would recommend one of these anyway.
