Question About wheel Spacers and Extended Studs--
Ok everyone, I put my s2000 ap2 wheels on my Prelude since I have aftermarket wheels on my s2000.
The thing is the offsets are so high, I can't get the wheel caps on. Plus I would like a little wider stance.
For that reason I want to get some H&R 15mm Spacers.
I'm asking here beacuse a lot more s2k owners have used these than prelude owners and so I'm just looking for any advice/insight I can get.
So a few questions regarding them:
1. I will of course need to increase the stud length. The H&Rs come with new studs which I will be utilizing, but it seems like a lotta people on honda-tech and otherwise swear my ARP Extended studs and use them even though the H&R's have em'. Well in the interest of saving a $80 on an additional set of extended studs, can anyone tell me why ARP is so much better than H&R studs, and what the need for them is? I'd really rather just use the H&R's unless they are unsafe for some reason
2. Replacing the studs with extended ones are gonna be a bitch. but I've done em' before without having to press out the wheel bearings to get the hub out. I hammered the old studs out once when one of them broke, but I replaced it with OEM length at that time. Well long story short they say that replacing the studs without removing the hub from the knuckle by removing the wheel bearing, will hurt the wheel bearing.
I've read many accounts where that hasn't caused a problem with the wheel bearing but some people just say that it will... can anyone provide any insight on this?
3. Finally, people say that spacers put too much stress on the studs and that its a recipe for disaster, but if i'm using H&R spacers, which are hub centric, in addition to the H&R Extended Studs, shouldn't I be ok??
the Prelude is my DD and I do a lotta highway driving with it. I've never taken it nor do I plan on taking it to a track, but I routinely do 80mph on the freeway on some of my longer trips, and I just dont want to risk anything breaking or falling off, at those speeds in the middle of allegator alley or other remote location.
Any insight on any of these issues I'd really appreciate it.
Also, if anyone has anything else to say about extended studs and spacers, just for my knowledge I'd be really intrested to hear about it.
Thanks!

what size is the s2000 hub? and what size is the prelude hub? are they that different?
i have 5th gen (97+) prelude hubs/knuckles on my prelude.
I figured hondas have the same hub sizes but i'm definitly wrong.
and the spacers I got are for a 5th gen prelude, and are hub centric. all H&R spacers are hub centric.
but i just realized that the OEM ap2 wheels are 70mm, is that correct??
Is there a big difference between. 70.4 mm and 70.1mm or 70mm? I ask beacuse I just did a search and I'm not getting an accurate answer.
Is the wheel also a 70.whatever, if the hub is a 70.wahtever or did honda use hub rings in the wheel as well?
Any info would be greatly apprecaited, I wanna make sure I order the right thing.
I belive am 99% sure the prelude is 64.1mm so its the s2000's dimensions i'm primarily concerned with.
can anyone help me convirm if these are the right sizes I need?

I just posted on your other question but here's 2 things to help you understand as I'm learning too...
Any wheel offset, the larger the number, the "safer" it will be as it will be tucked in more. So any number bigger than OEM will be more tucked into the fender and larger number = further out
If you use a spacer, then it's always SUBTRACTED.
example: +50 offset rim plus a +25mm spacer = 50-25 = +25mm offset on the rim
btw I have a 5th gen Prelude as well and never thought about swapping rims....let me know your findings
My guess is the Prelude is FWD and s2k is RWD so you will have some issues. I'm trying to buy s2000 rims that will ALSO fit my NSX and it's been a fun ordeal so far!

Did you ever get this done?
I'm also looking at the H/R "DRS" 15mm spacers with extended studs.
My OEM nsx rims are 5mm less aggresive than the OEM s2000 rims so with the 15mm spacers I should get a 10mm wider stance.
OEM NSX front: 17x7, +60
OEM s2000 front: 17x7, +55 (5mm more aggresive sticking out)
by using a 15mm spacer, I'm hoping to gain 10mm more than the stock OEM rim so 60 - 15 = +45 overall offset vs the +55 on oem s2k front rim.

Yes I am using the H&Rs on my Prelude.
They seem to be doing well, my biggest advice from everything I've read is to make sure that everything stays hub centric. I'm not sure what the NSX centerbore is compared to the S2000.
I belive that with HR they provide the extended studs to you. I know with my HRs I also did 15mm and it definitly came with extended studs.
The cool thing about them is that they're not just extra extra long studs, they're just as addiitionally long as the spacers are thick so essentially you can still use your OEM lug nuts.
As far as your math with the offsets. It seems right, but I dont think i ever completely truely figured it out.
Honestly what I did was measure out 15mm of total thickness of a few washers I had and put them on the hub followed by the wheel, tightened them down and then lowered the car.
that gave me a pretty good idea of exactly how it would look. I didn't, and I really owuld not recommend you drive the car with washers between the hub and the wheel.
This was just to get a good visual.
If anyone can think of why this could be a bad idea please feel free to let me and s4play know cuz I've suggested this to a few people already.
As far as I can tell though view it for a few minutes without driving on it shouldn't be a problem.
As for safety i think if you stick with the H&Rs and make sure everything is hub centric, you should be alright.
Let me know if you have any other questions I'd love to help if I can.
