Why not go for the 225/45/17 front and 255/40/17 rear?
I'm runing 225/45/17 and 245/40/17 now without any problem. I'll put on the 255's when my rear wears out. 255's were not available about a year ago.

I may end up going with the 225/45/17 245/40/17 combo now and switch to the 215/45/17 front later if I can confirm we really will get the 215/45/17 domestically.

I am shopping for tires for a set of prodrive gc07's 7.5 +48 and 8.5 +54. I am running an aggressive drop and I already ate both of my front fenders with another set of wheels. That's why I am looking for the narrower choice.

I REALLY want to run the RE01R's, but that was my main gripe. I though the widest size they had for a 17 was a 245. But now, since there is a 255-40-17 set up that exist, im sold

I had my RE-01R 215/45/17's imported straight from Japan through a local So Cal shop.It cost me $600 shipped for the front pair and took about 6 weeks. The stock rear size I ordered from Tirerack.com.I talked to a sales rep at BridgestoneUSA before I dropped my $600 and they have no plans to import the 215/45/17 size

I want to wait for the OEM sizes too. Can you give us a review of your new tires so far?

Stock oem 215 fronts understeer like hell, why would you want to use 215 fronts when you can use 225 ?

My OEM 215's don't understeer. Maybe you should get your alignment checked.
