Rear tires (ORIGINAL sO2 REAR)
 

I am ordering new rear tires from tire rack and want to stay with so2's. I have a 2002 s2000. Can i get wider tire for the stock rims and if so is there any adavantage to changing sizes. Please let me know your opinion and what sizes if possible. Like I said before I want to stay with Bridgestone SO2 because the fronts are still good. I apologize if this has been answered before but there are so many posts it will take forever to read through them all.

I don't know if you can fit a wider tire on the stock rims. I do know that the OEM so2's only come in the OEM widths. There are other so2's out there, but they aren't the same tire that the car came with. So if you put a wider so2 than the OEM, you're not using the same tires front to rear.

This is kind of off topic, but how many miles did you get on your rear tires? Also, can you use wider tires for the front? I heard alot about people fish tailing, which tire is the best to fix this problem?

If you'd like to stay with the S02, then get the OEM tires (OEM sizes). With stock rims, and non OEM tires, go with 245/45R16's in the rear.

I agree with dshea, because the OEM rears are ALREADY oversize in light of their 225/50/16 labeling. That's why we have to go to 245/45/16 in any other tire but an S02, and some of them are still smaller in some diminsion than the OEM's, even though they are labeled as larger. It sure would help if we had some standardization in tire size labeling, wouldn't it?
