Default Rota D2s. Should I or should I stay away.

I am really tempted to buy these since after loving SSRs so much I found a set of Rota D2s that are identical but not only that they are CHEAP as hell. Now are they really that bad? Is the offset horrible? Will they be worse then my stock AP2 17s? How big is the lip in the back, like SSRs or smaller? I am just in general willing to buy them but would like some opinions from the owners and just S2Kers in general.

1)From what I understand stock AP2 rims are 17 to 18lbs... these are 23 to 25lbs. More weight, slower acceleration. Right?

2) they are 18's so that will change the acceleration once again. Right?

3) I am planning on keeping the car stock hight, now will it look goofy and stupid or would it be just fine? Will it be that bad looking? If yes I might consider Tein S springs 1
drop with them.

Please give me some feed back and opinion. Talk me out of this if you feel as if it is a waste of $800.

Thank you guys!

I love the look tho.

is that a pic of the ssr's or rota's? they look nice. i guess if you're going purely for looks, go ahead and buy them. but imo, sticking with ap2's will be better. btw, i think the ap2's go up to 20 lbs. in the back.

honestly, it's your car. do what makes you happy. i wouldn't tho.

Well I am really scared of losing handling/acceleration more then anything else. What I am trying to say is if you guys don't think itll be worse then stock, ill get them. If you don't think ill notice anything in acceleration....I am a happy camper. lol

Here is the specs I am looking at:

-- Rota D2 Stacker Style For Honda S2000
# 18x8 5x114.3+48mm (Front 2 Wheels)
# 18x9 5x114.3+50mm (Rear 2 Wheels)

I am also considering them in Silver, or gloss black. I wish they had it in gunmetal, gunmetal looks great on silver.

The problem with cheap wheel manufacturers used to be that they would only make wheels for the mass market and manufacture the "average" widths and offsets in efforts to control costs.

But since Rota has stepped up to the plate and made an S2000 specific fitment, I think its a great idea.

its a nice looking wheel and I personally would buy a set for DD. the offsets are a safe fitment. as far as your question about handling, most people won't even be able to tell the difference on a normal daily basis. only people that usually tracks their car would be able to tell the difference in handling when you have bigger wheels. You should lower the car to make it look better with the wheels, but thats just me

Depending on your driving style you may feel a decrease in performance. Nothing drastic, but when taking turns or accelerating, you may feel a slight negative impact. This may translate to you losing half a second in the quarter mile. Can easily be made up with good driving though. Just putting it into prospective..

Rims have no effect on handling besides weight and size... it has way way way more to do with what tires are on your wheels.

Great ill get them, Now I am scared of getting tires with too fat of a side wall because some lo-pros can look thicker then others. What would you guys recommend. It will be only a suumer time rim/tire combo, and I also will take my car to the track ocasionally.
1/4 mile and couple mountain runs, the car will also see F1 style track once every 3 months or so. No Xracing or anything tho.
