Default snow tires for 2010

What is the latest and greatest snow tire for this year?

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?ti...6WS70&tab=Sizes

I was looking at these but they only come in 225/60/16 and we need 225/50/16

would the extra hight make a difference? How long would they last street mile wise when it wasn't snowing?

You can run those tires in the 205/55R16 on all four corners. They are going to give you the best ice and snow traction. I have driven them on BMW's and there is no issues. They are not going to handle like you OE tires but they are great when it is nasty out.
If I can help just let me know.

I'd get the staggered Dunlop Wintersports unless you plan on spending lots of time in the snow/ice.

I was thinking about running 215/225 for the CR this winter.
Would there be a reason to not stagger?
I was looking at the WS60s due to Utahs weather but i make take a sportier version.

What do you guys think

Some choose to skip the stagger so the tires can be rotated between front and rear duty.
Our cars will wear the rears far faster, and it helps to be able to cycle them around for even wear.

Also, in regards to performance ice/snow tires: I like the idea. I live in Chicago, and it can get really nasty. But the streets are well cleared (Chicago's infamous salting), and anything over 3 inches of standing snow will go through the front bumper anyway. So I like maintaining a bit of tread stability even in my winter tires.

Bridgestone Blizzaks
Dunlop Wintersport M3

On the cost Effective side, Falken and Hankook make nice winter tires as well.

thanks^^ and how do they do on dry roads? how long can they be expected to last? this will be my first winter in utah so not to sure what to expect. i would like to have the best grip in the snow but i don't want to have to replace tires all the time from driving on dry roads.

Both of those (some Blizzak models) are considered performance winter tires. They do well in dry conditions and increase snow traction drastically. Mileage depends on the driver and the car. I saw an Audi A4 get 65,000 out of a set of blizzak. I usually get about 4 seasons. 15-20k. More if you don't stagger sizes and are able to rotate all four corners.
