Default Staggered fitment help

Hey all,

I'm looking into purchasing a set of wheels and trying to figure out a staggered fitment size. I have 3 choices to choose from and i'm not sure which way to go.

I'm planning on using 215/45/17 fronts and 245/40/17 rears.

My wheel options are as follows:

17x7 48 offset
17x8 45 offset
17x9 45 offset

Question is, should i go for the 17x7 and 17x8, 17x7 and 17x9, or 17x8 and 17x9 stagger?

Since the S only has a one inch stagger, would it affect handling with a 2 inch stagger?

Would the car rub with these offsets if i use an 8 inch front and a 9 inch rear?

Reason why i ask is because there isn't much of a price difference, and i'd rather pay a little extra now for the wider rims if it gives me more tire sizes later on if i do decide to get a wider tire...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Go to the chart Mucka. Before I knew about the chart I got conned into puttin' a set of +48s on the back of my AP2 n' when things got interestin' they was rubbin'. I believe you'll be able to get away with the 48s up front, but, I would check the chart.
Somebody went through a lodda trouble so that the rest of us could have it easy, n' would be able to see what'll work n' what won't. It's only right that we at least consult it so that they don't feel slighted, right?
Be well, n' like the old kinght said . . .

Hey Java,

The chart says that I can use the above offsets.

Members here have used the 17x7 +48 and 17 x 8 +45 with 215/45 and 245/40 rubber with no rubbing issues even when lowered.

I'm curious to know if i can use the exact same wheel and offset but with an added +1 inch stagger on both front and rear (17x8,17x9)

What size tire, stagger were you using and how low is your car to cause rubbing issues?

Any help would be greatly appreciated..

Thanks

are you lowered? you can run the 17x8+45,17x9+45 (ive ran it 2 times before). you can run 215/245 at stock height, and even if youre slammed with some camber or rolled fenders in the rear. The wheels sit flush with the fender if that is the look you are going for.

i'm lowered an inch with Tein S-Techs and i'm not planning to go any lower.

when you had your setup did you experience any rubbing without rolling your fenders? and how low were you? Also would a 225/255 (RT-615) work without rolling my fenders or is that pushing it?

I don't autocross or anything, just some spirited driving with the occassional hard corner.

I'm going for the flush look (like yours), while wanting to get a bigger contact patch. And if all else fails, then i'll just stick to the safer 17x7/17x8 or 17x8/17x9 wheels with 215/245 (RT-615) combo.

Thanks in advance for answering my ?'s, need tires and im planning on ordering the combo within the next week.

Thanks!
Mucka

I was dropped more than 2 inches, and i would rub on the front on hard turns. 225/255 will not work on OEM fenders since the RT615 runs wide. i dont think the rt615 comes in the 245/40 but correct me if i am wrong. the thing about getting the flush look is that you have to give up the contact patch. which is why people who want to get a big contact patch go with the 17x9+63,65.
