Default Staggered tires

I am running 18 inch wheels with 225/40/18 tires on all four wheels on my 2005.
I would like wider tires on the rear. I was looking at 255/35/18 for the rear
The diameter of the 225's is 25.1, the diameter of the 255's is 25.0
The rims are 18x8.5
Will this work.
Thank you for your help and input

That could work depending on the offset of the wheels, but I'd not want 255 on a 8.5" wheel.

Thank you, Another option would be to replace the rear wheels with 18/9 inch.
What about 245/35/18 tires instead of the 255/35/18 the diameter of the 245's being 24.8 with the 225's at 25.1
would that work

What is the offset of the current wheels? Generally 255 is fine on a 8.5, though not optimum, but in your case if it can fit your fender due to a favorable offset I think id prefer that over a 245 being on big 18's and having a closer overall diameter match to front 225. Being 18's, the smaller sidewall will not be as detrimental to handling precision with a 255 on a narrower wheel either. With 17's its a little more of a consideration. CR comes this way from factory though keep in mind. 8.5 would be the minimum for 255. 10" The max/best.

255 on a 8.5" is fine. It is a very common tire size on factory ap2 rear wheels, which are 8.5". Determining if the wheel and tire combo fit on the vehicle is dependent on the offset and if your fenders are rolled, or you plan to roll them. Stock fenders would require a size around 8.5+58 or higher to fit a 255. Rolling/pulling will expand those options.

255mm tires are fine and are standard on the CR with 8.5" wide wheels. And many of us (including me) are running them as well on OEM wheels.

Thank you for your update and comments. I will determine what my offset is first and confirm the fit first.

Default Wheels

I have SPYN wheels it says on the side that they are 18x7.5JJ. However when I measure them they measure 8.5 with a negative offset of -6.25 and a +2.25 that adds up to 8.5inches.
Anyone else using these wheels?

The size and offset should be part of the casting on the inside on one or more spokes. At least on the Enkei wheels (OEM S2000 wheels are Enkei). Is something there? Same or different? Yeah, ya gotta pull a the wheel.

How does that work on a multi piece wheel, which obviously would come with what ever barrel/offset/width you want?

The exception would be if these are not actually multi piece wheels but made to look like them.
