Gotcha.. ya.. when I say "stock brakes" I'm really just referring to calipers/rotors. A must for ANY track car is SS lines/fluid/track pads, as there was a TT guy that died at a local track due to a stock brake line that failed.. Very sad.

The local track has a ~130->40mph and ~100mph->30mph as well as smaller turns that really tax the "stock" s2k brakes.

 

That is a pretty scary thought.

resurecting an old thred, there is some great info in here. Ran my first autoX and now I am trying to figure out where I want to go with next tires. I want to stay stock so adjustments I’m looking at: alignment, tires, sway bar.

2001 stock ap1, daily driver. Think I’ll only get 3-5 events in per year. Otherwise, driven daily (15 miles) to work.

no real speed shops around here but I did find a local fire shop that can dial in the alignment spec I want. I’ll talk to them about tires while I’m there

 

Do you drive it in bad weather? Where are you located? These questions can alter the answer quite a bit.

Are you competing in a class where people run Super 200 tires (Bridgestone RE71RS, Falken RT660, Yokohama A052, Nankang CRS) and you want to be competitive? You're going to need similar tires, preferably on dedicated wheels.
