Street tire class selection options question.
I am trying to decide which street tire will be best for a AP1 car in my local region SCCA Solo2 street tire class.
So far I have narrowed it down to the...
RE01R 205/45ZR16 or 225/50R16
Ventus R-S2 225/45ZR16
Azenis RT-615 225/5016 or 215/4516
Proxes R1R 225/45ZR16
I think I want to run equal size all around cuz I can then rotate them for long life.
Right now I am leaning heavily towards the Proxes but I am not sure if they are legal for the class.
Any suggestions?

You really can't rotate the tires and the car will not handle as well with the same size on all four corners without suspension modifications. The wheels are different sizes front and rear and the center bores are different. The best that I have for the car in the street calss would be the RE-01R and the Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec. In the testing that we have done here they are the best handling tires. I would just stay with the OE tire sizes.
If I can help let me know.

The ST* tire to beat right now is the Dunlop Dizzera Z1 StarSpec.
But the new Kumho XS tires just came out literally a few days ago, and they will be available in a 265/45/16 eventually, according to Kumho's web site, which might be an interesting choice for rear AP1 tires. No one knows if the XSs will be any good for autoX yet though...
I have been running 245 Hoosier A6s front and rear on the stock AP1 wheels for the last 2 autoX seasons. I like the way the car feels better than the 225f/245r because I can stiffen up the front bar without getting more understeer.
I have no idea how 245f/245r would work with street tire carcasses and rubber compounds though...
