Actually, CR rear was actually closer to 245. Honda wanted the stickier RE070 for the CR. But it didn't come in a 245 size, just 255. But the actual width spec was barely any wider than the 245 RE050 on the regular S.

So Honda wasn't trying to have a wider rear tire on CR, just stickier all around.

If you're replacing tires on a CR, and you want to stay close to what it came w stock as to real stagger, you probably should choose 245/215, not 255/215.

I've been happily running "CR spec" tire sizes for 10 years. They look a little wider than some other S2000s but that's about it. They look good. Bridgestone has, of course, discontinued my RE-71RS for the RZ version tires but it'll be a couple of years before I have to replace them. New tread pattern looks different.
