Default Tire mounting.

My soon to be ex mechanic doesn't want to mount my tires on my rims, he says he's afraid to scratch them? So anybody in the SFV that is good at their job? 28 years I've been going to same place. Very, very disappointed.

Thank you

You're breaking up with your trusted mechanic of 28 years because he was up front with you about something to avoid an issue for you?

Lol how weird!

Anyway, try a discount tire or something. Ask them to be careful and ask them to use an outside clamp when clamping the wheels.

Are these wheels actually special?

I've had great success with Tire Rack mobile installer.

You can be right there watching everything, which you can't do in most shops.

Also its the same guy doing every step. Not the new kid doing some of it. The guy is also skilled, bc they're not gonna send a guy alone that doesn't have experience. They also train them well for same reason.

They also do good background checks bc they're sending someone to your house.

All that plus no waiting around in waiting room for your cars turn. And its only a little more $ than some random shop.

Also, the guy can bring the tires, so you don't have to store them until install day, make sure someone home waiting on UPS to prevent porch pirates, etc.

You can also find your local autocross region and ask them who they use. Us track and autox people go through a lot of tires And generally those groups will know of local people they all trust for this stuff. I use Discount Tire as well and generally have had fine luck with them, never any wheel damage. One I always avoid is TiresPlus. I went to multiple locations of theirs years ago and all of them sucked badly.

+1 on this. Just did it last week for the first time. I'm a sold repeat customer and will be having my tires mounted and balanced this way for now on.
