Tire recommendation
 

Basically the S i'm buying has all seasons and I talked Honda into mounting, balance, and alignment for free....

Initially I wanted the S02's but I'm not liking what I'm reading about them as far as rain traction and tire wear.

So my criteria is as follows..
-great dry traction
-good in wet weather
-able to last atleast 20-25k

opinions?

There are exactly ZERO Great dry traction tires that will last 20-25K (at least with my driving style)

IMO you will never have your cake and eat it too in the case of S2000 rubber, that being said almost anything will be an improvement over 'no-season' tires.
If they have great grip, they won't last long, and if they last a long time, they will have reduced grip. All depends on what is MOST important to you. Whatever you choose, do NOT run them down close to the wear bars or you are asking for trouble.

IMPORTANT
on AP1 Stock wheels the rear tire size should be 245/45/16 (and the front 205/55/16) unless you are running OEM S02's in which case a 225/50/16 is the correct rear size.

I'm reading good things about the RE050's, how long will they last?

They are great tires, I get 7-10K miles out of rears and 12-14K out of fronts with these tires though someone posted not long ago about getting 30K miles per set, that is probably the exception rather than the rule. Ask the Air Force pilot who just posted in S2000 talk about flipping his S on his 6th day of ownership with 14K on his RE050's


Alas, the OEM RE050's do not come in any 16" sizes at all
The RE050A Pole Positions (A better tire than the OEM 050's in my opinion) come in exactly two 16" sizes: 205/55/16 (Great!) and 225/50/16 Good -but running them in those sizes reduces your F/R stagger from 1.5" down to 0.7" which I think is doable but it will certainly increase oversteer over the OEM S02 tire configuration.

I really don't want to increase oversteer as this being my first RWD car...it's going to be my daily so I need it to get through rain, I just want some grip and something that will last a couple summers...

Personally I'd go with the S02's if I were running 16" wheels. Due to the limits in sizes etc, available in 16" you may want to consider going up to 17" wheels down the road which give you a much bigger selection of tires to choose from.

how bad are they in the rain? If I drive like a grandma would I be ok?

Just be careful in cold and/or wet conditions and you'll be fine.
I highly recommend some autocrossing or at least sliding around practice somewhere safe since you are switching to RWD. HPDE is always fun and also a good idea.

how about Bridgestone RE-750's? Would they fit AP1 wheels? They seem to have good dry/wet traction and decent tread life...
