Default Tire replacement

It is time to replace the rear tires. However, the front tires still have a lot of tread (5 years 15000 miles original 050). I'm thinking replace the rear tires 050 only or replace all four corners with RE11. I heard tires should replace every 6 years reguardless the tread. Is that true? Or I should save $ and just replace the rear?

I heard the same thing too, but I just went ahead and ordered some new rear tires since the front have >80% tread left.

I was told by one of tire rack reps that I should be fine with just replacing rears, just to make sure the compound is similar etc.

I have re050 on the front with around 15.5k miles, and I went with continental DW on the rear

My discount tire has a sign that 10 years is the replacement date.

It is actually 10 years from mfg. date or 6 years of use is what we go by.
