Hi there, have an '01 S2 which i've recently sold to my dad in Virginia... and she needs new tires (well pretty much just on the rear LOL).

Need some recommendations on brands/models/sizes... I know people say there's a certain Bridgestone Potenza that was designed for the S2 in particular... does anyone know the model #? Right now the tires on the car are the recommended sizes that the owner's manual wants you to use.

Since the car will be used in a state where there is some snow and ice (although she won't be driven much during winter of course) my Dad would need something with decent wet-weather traction. He's hardly the speedster I am so pricey, great dry-traction tires won't be necessary. LOL

I have a set of Kumho Escta and they are decent tires for rain and dry, they last, but they don't perform well enough for me

if you moved this to the tire section of the forum, im sure youd get better responses and jim from tire rack could help you out too.

Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Spec is the tire of choice at the moment if you're looking for a high-performace street tire at a reasonable price. They perform about the same as the Bridgestone RE-01R but at a substantial discount. Tirerack did some testing on them and was very positive in the review.

If you don't know/care much about tires, just look up the stock sizes and order those; they're safe.

If you need all-seasons or want something cheaper, I can't help there.
