Build a tube out of PVC pipe, attach a bicycle valve to it somewhere. Take all 4 TMPS units and put them in the tube. Seal it up, and pump it up to 32psi. Attach the pressurized tube to the car somewhere out of the way, and you'll never have a problem.

 

But I heard Virgina does not have emissions, so what inspection do you have to pass? Do not sell your OEM wheels because if something ever happens to the aftermarket wheels, you have those for backup. Yes, it is suppose to reset after you go over 28 MPH. But do they still sell prodrive wheels? I never see any companies selling them.

That's a pipe bomb, does not work on the s2000. I wish it did because I would have done that.

 

Not sure of exactly what they inspect, but I think it's all pretty basic stuff... tires, brakes, windshield, etc. Not sure if they would mind a TPMS light. And with my last S2000s, I've never held onto the OEM wheels, have always sold them. The S2000 isn't my only car, so there's no need for spare wheels. BUT, I "might" hold onto them with the OEM Bridgestone and TPMS sensors, just incase I need them for an inspection.

 

Same here, my car only comes out on the weekends. For me its not worth selling the OEM wheels, I wont get alot for them so ill just keep them.

 

Here are my thoughts on the TPMS:
Keep them functional because I have gotten a slow leak before and the TPMS saved me from driving really far from home with a nail in my tire

if you take the sensors out the TMPS light will be off at first but come on when you have driven for about 20 miles and stay on
also if your tire pressure drops to about 26 psi the TMPS light will come on

THE best TPMS sensor for 08-09 S2000 is the VDO Redi-sensor part number SE10002 only about $40 each

I have confirmed that this sensor works flawlessly with the S2000 TPMS


High OEM quality aluminum stem construction, way less than Honda sensors, multi-angled so they fit many wheels, very lightweight and easy to program.
They just work. I put the same exact sensors in my Volk C345UL's


MAKE SURE to torque them down to only 71 INCH LBS.!!!!

I do have a professional TPMS programmer the ATEQ-VT55 which is $$$$ but any good tire shop can program them for a $$ fee

Once programmed the TPMS light will stay lit but just drive around to 30 mph and it will turn off.

VSA will engage even with the TPMS light on

TPMS pipe bomb for the S2000 is a dumb idea and waste of money

 

For those who don't know, RylisPro was the one who help me out a lot when I was trying to figure this out for my own car, thanks bro.

So are those REDI sensors the real deal, I know they were just coming out when you and I were PMing. I know a lot of these sensors work well with volk wheels, but I wonder if they will fit in other wheels like the Enki RFP1.

 

Yes the Redi-Sensor SE10002 works well and is the real deal.
It is designed to be programmed by many popular TPMS re-program tools such as the ATEQ-VT55, Snap-On TPMS3, Bartec TECH400SD etc.
basically any TPMS re-programmer that has OBDII capability to reprogram the S2000's ECU.

Most Honda, Toyota, etc. service dealers should have one as most Asian car manufacturers require OBDII port access in order to re-program their TPMS

The Redi-Sensor SE10002 should work with many wheels since it can be configured into different angles

the key is to have a brand new plastic seal which is shown in the service kit part number SE54190


If you buy four brand new SE10002 sensors it should have everything you need to install in your wheels
just make sure you have a good inch lbs. torque wrench

It's good to know that the car doesn't have to go to the dealer. Talked to a local performance shop that has done all my tire mounting in the past, but they only have a tool for German cars. Wondering if that tool would still work for an S2000. I would think OBDII would be the same for all cars, no?

I never said it was a good idea. I've done it in previous cars, and have had friends do the same without problems. I don't have to worry about it with my S as it's an 07.
