The Tread Thread
I'm on Thanksgiving break and miss interacting with my students, so here's my lesson for the day:
The rubber on a tire that interfaces with the ground is called tread. For example, "I have 4/32" of tread left on the tires I am selling."
What you use to sew a button onto your shirt is a needle and thread.
A topic on a web-based forum is a thread.
Or, "Man, my tires are so worn out that you can see the polyester and nylon threads of the cord!"
Class dismissed.
