Wheel Alignment
 

I am planning to put on some coilovers and get alignment after. But I will be putting on a new set of wheels in a couple of months. Do I need to get another alignment when I put on the new wheels?????

im pretty sure someone here will say "yes" and get another alignment. Personal opinion, im not going to get another one because based from my past experience with my integra, i always switched small wheels on winter and put back the 18's on summer. It looks to me that my alignment is still the same on both wheels. I may be wrong but again i cant see any reason why u need another alignment when ur not messing with suspension.

yeah thats what I thought, but wanted to see what you guys out there think.

Any modern shop should be measuring of of the outside of the rim so no matter what rim you use or even if your tires are wore uneven it won't make a difference.

if the car is aligned before putting on new wheels then, i will not get the car aligned again just simply because i changed the wheels. If the car has never been aligned and decide to put some new wheels then, it depends on how the old tires look like. If they happen to be decent where its not riding so much on inside shoulder or outside or wheels are pulling, then i wouldnt personally get it aligned...hope this help u somehow

No, you don't need another alignment after putting wheels on after only a few months. If the wheels they used to do the alignment are true then you'll be fine.

when you install coilovers.. drive like 1 week.. or a few days of agressive driving to settle the suspension so your alignment stays.. otherwise ull align.. itl settle and itl go out of whack again

your alignment shop aligns using the hub as center point and focus point.

so if u got aligned w/ -2* camber rear now... then even if you put 400000inch tires on.. it would still be -2*


so.. install coilovers... drive a week. align and dont worry

only reason ull need new align w/ new wheel is if u hit something and mess up align in meantime

Someones going to flame me for bringing up an old thread, but I posted this question earler and now Im getting conflicting data and dunno what to do.

I pretty much have a stock AP1 and had stock wheels and tires, I just bought different wheels with much wider tires and totally different offsets than stock.

I JUST had my car aligned like 1k miles ago tops, when I had my car in the alignment shop (west end alignment) darren told me my fronts were very worn in the insides. (no idea if he added positive camber to equal it out, would he do that?).

Anyway I have heard over and over to get an alignment, then I search and find this... :confused:

You do not need to get a new alignment when changing wheel/tire combinations, AS LONG AS the alignment you had BEFORE you changed the wheels and tires was good.

Obviously if you put on new wheels and tires that don't fit on the car with your current alignment, you will need to change your alignment settings.
