Default wheel size/offset for PMU 4pot BBK?

this is for the fronts only as i'm pretty sure i'm going 17x9et45 in the rear. ideally, i want to run a stagger - 8 in front, 9 in the rear - but i'm open to possibilities. i just want to keep the car's handling characteristics as neutral as possible (altho i know most trackheads on here swear by a 9" square set up).

is the general guideline to get a offset below +40?

what if i run square, will a 17x9et45 wheel clear the BBK?

from what i've seen on here it seems like the PMU brakes are a lil wider than most so fitment issues are abundant. any info would be greatly appreciated. TIA.

Just knowing the offset is not enough to make sure the wheels are going to clear the brakes. The shape of the spokes thoemselves are going to determine. that. You really need to get a template of the brake package and go from there.

What wheel? Offset does play a big role when it comes to running a BBK, but the wheel itself, such as backspacing/spoke design plays just the same

yea.. there are a bunch of factors. the wheel i am going to try and fit the BBK under is a set of RPF1s, 18x8et45.

hey man, hope you like my RPF1s.

the fronts 17x8 +45 will be your best bet to fit the BBK, as you can see from the rears, a 17x9 +45 has a totally different spoke design, making it very hard to fit a bbk.

the 17x8 +45 fit my greddy bbk. i have no way to compare it to a PMU bbk, but can't be far off. if PMU is bigger, probably not much bigger. you might only need a few mm spacer. here's a shot of the clearance between the wheels and my brakes. no spacer.

a-yo, thanks a ton man. the wheels are still in the back of the A3! LOL, havent had time to even unload em yet.

like you said, i'm thinking the two BBKs are going to be pretty similar (PMU probably bigger from what i've gathered) and if anything i'll just run a minimal spacer to make it fit.

there are differant size pmu kits.the caliper changes with the kit size.rim dia.plus offset play into this.and always keep in mind fender work/or total replacment fenders.this is the 355 kit and honestly ive never seen one this big,i have a big hand and as you can see its fully opened.i will be running work ss-sv 18x8.5+32 fronts with asm fenders.i am not sure that the offset will clear these brakes but i think it will be enough.

It really depends on which 4pot kit you have. The newer forged (slim) calipers like pictured above are not as thick as the older monoblock 4pots like I have pictured below. I had to put a 10mm spacer on my front wheels which made them 18x7.5 36 offset. It is going to vary depending on what wheel you choose to go with.
