Wheel spacers
 

I want to get some spacers to use with my ap2v1s. From what I've read 5mm is still safe without any extra work.

Is that true, is there any risk to running 5mm on an otherwise all stock set up?

Also where do you recommend for finding a cheap set that is decent as well?

dont do it, its 2 risky. If you are gonna do it buy some aftermarket lug studs

3mm is about as much as you want to use without replacing studs. 5mm spacers will not be noticeable anyways. Most people use between 10-20mm to get them more flush.

Nope, and nope.

Removing the old studs can be done with a hammer, and the new ones are easier to install than a wheel. I'm sure if you Google "wheel stud replacement how to" or something similar, you'll get tons of guides. It's a pretty universal procedure. I'm doing studs on my girlfriends car next weekend, actually.

If you order H&R spacers, they include new studs. I'd go that route. PM me if you want pricing on a few different options.

Unfortunately this is not true for the S2000. There isn't nearly enough clearance to simply bang out the old ones and drive in the new ones. You have to remove the hubs. It's both expensive and a lot of work.

The bigger the spacer, the easier to install because large spacers (at least 15mm or so) typically have pressed studs. Totally plug and play due to our AP2v1 and v2 wheels having recesses behind the wheel to accomodate the remaining length of the stock stud after installing the spacer! But depending on your ride height, this can mean fender modification since you're effectively lowering the offset of the wheel. Are you lowered?

Yes im lowered,I dont want to mod my fenders, and was thinking that 10mm spacer would be the biggest I'd run. I need to find out the work/cost needed to get the studs done. Thanks tho, that covers what Ive been confused on.

From what I have heard the oem wheels are not recessed enough to clear the oem studs when a spacer with pressed in studs is used. Only option is to cut the extra length from the oem studs. Doing this will mean you if you want to go back to stock or replace with a set of wheels without the spacers, will require the hubs to be disassembled so the old studs can be pressed out and new studs pressed in.

I did 20mm spacers on all 4 corners with OEM AP2's. You can check them out next time we are out on a meet since you live close by me. 20mm sits flush with minimal fender work. Just mainly relocate the rear tabs.
