will getting plus sized tires mess up offsett?

i'm going to be ordering ASA AR1's off tirerack next week and was planning to get the biggest tires i could fit on them for as much traction as possible

a friend with an ap2 told me he had heard of people going as large as 275 width in the back on the stock ap2 17's

so i was planning on getting something wider than the 245's and 205's recomended

but from my experience so far with this car and wheels and tires i'm sure it's not that simple

will going larger cause problems? or have drawbacks?

and if anyone has a preference on a good bang for the buck summer/high performance tire let me know, i'm planning on falken azenis right now

any help/advice much apprecaited

Please take a look at the stickied thread at the top of this forum about wheel sizing. This will explain what "offset", width, tire sizing and how it all relates to one another and what will and won't work on this car. I sense you are somewhat confused on quite a few things in this area.
eg. "205 and 245" is not the recommended combination. That thread will explain this, too.

The tires I recommend for that wheel is the 215/45R17 front and 245/40R17 rear. Anything wider and you would have to roll the fender lip and or run more negative camber.
If I can help let me know.
