Default Winter Tyres without snow

Hi all,

I have had my s2000 for a couple of months which came with a new set of Pirelli winter tyres on new alloys. My experience so far is that it's SCARRY as hell on accelerating on straights and slides like a good'n on accelerating out of bends in the dry and even worse in the rain.

I know these cars do have a reputation for a bit of fishtailing but I would have thought these tyres would have a bit of traction in the dry so I didn't think anything of it when buying the car.

With winter around the corner the question is do I bite the bullet for the next couple of months and pray for bad weather, or purchase better handling tyres. I'm not an aggressive diver (honest) but I have had a couple of moments where I have started having religious thoughts lol

So is it my driving style which I need to adapt, the car with rear wheel drive or are these tyres totally unsuitable unless I'm in a blizzard

Cheers
Jason

i believe your problem is you were using winter tires in the summer months......just like summer tires, winter tires are not made for the temps of summer. Your winter tires were probably super hot which is why you had some slick moments
winter tires are great in conditions where the temperature is just cold and without snow.

I agree. I don't think you really need a winter tire in your area. The winter tires in warmer weather are going to be bad handling.

Speaking of winter tires what do you recommend Jim as a great choice in both value and performance?
