I got 35, 32 and 34mm clearance when trying to do the same measurements as described above.
So going by that you would probably need more than 20mm spacer for safe clearance.

By the way I emailed 949 racing and asked what kind of BBK they actually knew would fit these 17x9 +55 wheels.
They couldn't name a single one, they just had a wheel template that they did send me.
I guess it's easy to claim "fits everything" when you haven't even tried to check.

That's disappointing. No different than using stock wheels, just wider.

The 17*9 should be ordered in +48 to clear BBKs. Not sure why then don't state that from the start.

Yeah +48 is what I ordered from the beginning but they were all out.
Should have just canceled the order instead of trusting the +55 claims and going with them.

How difficult is fitting 17x9 +48 up front? Just a roll or tab relocate too ?

Both, with camber, if you want to run a 255.
Though it isn't really a tab relocate as much as it is cutting off the top tabs and tucking the liner up.
