Default New tire size?

hey.
I need your help.
I have a Honda s2000 AP1 the previous owner had put on different size tires

front: 225/35 ZR18 87Y XL
Back: 225/35 ZR18 87Y XL

Although the OEM spec is this:

Front: 205/55 / R16 89W
Rear 225/50/ R16 92W

If I'm not mistaken, the rear tire is larger due to the 50/50 weight distribution. Now I was wondering if I should go back to the OEM spec or just keep the size I have now? If i keep the tire size i have now does this effect the grip and driving safety in total.

I hope you can help me,
luka

You can't go back to OEM spec since you have 18" wheels.

Unless you meant that you would go buy 16" wheels?

What width and offset are your 18" wheels?

Some people like staggered tire sizing. others like to use the same size all around (they call it square sizing).

i think i have 18x8.5 al four wheels.
because the tires are stretched. But what setup would you recommend for sporty street use?

You have to go through threads and see what you actually like. If you don’t want to give it that effort buy stock wheels and put stock size tires on them.

Buying wheels based on the recommendations of strangers who can never know exactly what you want is not a good move.

They didn’t put the right size on the front. It should be 225/40/18.

Hope you find a solution.

Later model 17" wheels with corresponding OEM tire sizes are an alternate and an exact fit as Honda changed the wheel and tire sizes at the same time resulting in the circumferences and revolutions per mile (or kilometer ) remain the same. Well reviewed replica AP2V1 17" wheels are available at least in the US and probably elsewhere as they're built in east Asia. (And I'll bet several guys were thinking I forgot to post that.)
