Default 225/255 Hankook RS-3's on AP2 rims. Too wide?

I think I've narrowed down my tire choice to the Hankook RS-3's. I only use the car mainly for weekend fun and a handful of track days a year so I'm willing to put up with the tires few shortcomings. (relatively louder road noise and poor rain performance) I am however debating between the stock sizes of 215/245 or the slightly larger 225/255 combo. I know the RS-3's tend to run wide to begin with so I'm wondering if they are a bit much for the stock AP2 V1 wheels. Do they bulge too much? I've heard the sidewalls are reasonably soft as well so is that another issue if they are already a little 'baggy' on the rims? A little extra rubber on the road, especially on the track, would be welcome but I don't want to sacrifice the performance of the tire simply for the added size.

If anyone has photos or just their experience with this setup that would be great. Thank you for the help!

Technically while the wider tires should give you better steady state cornering, you may sacrifice some transient response depending on how everything else is set up. On a stock suspension I found the OEM sizes in Star Specs (which also run big) to be a better overall performer. We have no track in my hick town so I can only judge by "spirited" street driving and drifting through empty mall parking lots.

I run 225/255 star specs...they are great! With a softer sidewall on the RS3s I would run more air pressure.

Do you have any photos of the 225/255 Star Specs since they also run big? I'm torn with which size to go with.

I was thinking since the RS-3's run large anyway, even the stock sizing (215/245) would look about the same as most other brands 225/255.

have you watched frei's video closely and seen how much the 255 star spec flexes on an oem rim? i wonder what a video of the rs3s would look like

Yea, see that looks too wide/bulging to me on the stock wheel. I'm thinking I'm better served in the stock sizing.

Can anyone else sing the praises of 225/255 or back me up on the stock sizing?

Discussed in many prior threads. If you want more opinions they're already out there. Plenty run on 225/255's. It's your call to make based on your needs/wants. Are looks your top concern above all else? Grip/handling and rubbing are generally the top concerns.

Looks are not my primary concern but function is. If the tires seem overhang the edge of the rim as much as it looks like, and the sidewalls are relatively soft to begin with, I'd reckon they wouldn't be performing optimally.

I caved and went with RE-11's in stock sizes. I just wasn't 100% convinced on the RS-3's so I chose a tire I've enjoyed success with in the past. We'll see how they go on the S2000 and determine if the decision was fortune or folley.

Everyone on the track runs 225/255 RS3 on the stock wheels. So many people do it that Tire Rack runs out of stock in those sizes sometimes. They work fine and will give you more grip than the stock sizes. Steering feel isn't a strong suit of the RS3 in general, but it's hard to argue with their grip for the price.

I had my RE-11's mounted today and am glad I went with the stock 215/245 sizes. These fit just right on the wheels to my eyes. Any larger and they would bulge too far over the wheel for my tastes.

Going from the stock RE050's to the RE-11's was a noticeable change in width despite being the same sizes. The RE-11's measure wider apparently.
