BFGoodrich DRs and cornering ability
I am on a quest to find a tire that will afford my turbo S2000 a good amount of traction, both in a straight-line and in cornering. I've thought about getting some Toyo RA-1s (for all four corners), and am now thinking about getting some BFGoodrich g-Force T/A Drag Radial 2s (275/40-17, rears only). I know that these tires will give me great straight-line traction, but I am concerned with traction limitation during cornering.
It is my understanding that, in terms of straight-line traction (say for drag racing), that you want a tire with a soft sidewall whereas, in terms of cornering traction (say for road racing), you want a tire with stiff sidewalls. These DRs are obviously meant for drag racing and therefore will have a soft sidewall. How this impacts cornering abilities is unknown to me.
I live in San Diego, only drive the car on the weekends, and only if it hasn't (isn't) rained (raining). I'd really appreciate your feedback on this so I can proceed with a purchase.

Unless all you're doing is drag racing, I'd stay away from the BFG's

They are DRAG RADIALS. They have a traction rating of 'B' and a temperature rating of 'C' they are designed specifically to run 1/4 miles and that's it. They are 'Legal' to drive to and from the dragstrip, they are NOT for the twisties or any kind of sustained high speed driving. RE the temp and traction ratings.

2QYK4U, have you done any mods to the drivetrain to accomodate the additional hp/torque from your turbo? If you have not, you may want to stay away from any R-compounds or superwide sticky rear tires lest you get into a irresistable force connects to immovable object kind of problem. What I mean is if your traction is no longer the weak link, what is? Diff? Halfshafts? Transmission? Just curious.
