Default Bridgestone RE-11A

I replaced near-bald Bridgestone RE-11's with Bridgestone RE-11A's on my car yesterday, and WOW, what a night-and-day difference. I'm not sure if it is due to how worn my old tires were, but the new ones are much more comfortable (and of course feel extremely grippy as well). The change in ride especially is huge, my car is on Bilstein PSS9's and would crash over some bigger bumps before that it just glides over now with these tires. I can't do a full review quite yet as I haven't had enough seat time, but this new tire has impressed me immensely so far.

Easter Sunday Update:

I went on the EOM Drive in the Santa Monica Mountains today. We were on extremely challenging and twisty roads for 4+ hours in both the dry and the pouring rain so I got a good feeling for the tires. Tons of grip, they felt more responsive than my normal RE-11's were (hard to tell but there is a slight difference), and they were excellent in the rain. I've never felt so comfortable driving hard in the rain, although the regular RE-11's were pretty much the same in that regard. The softness of this tire really helps on bumpy canyon roads where maintaining grip is key. I'm a happy customer.

So far what I'm hearing about these tires is, if you want a high performance hard nose precision dry handing tire, get something else. If you like a soft and comfy ride with good overall grip, these are an option.

Regarding the softness, I think this quote from the following review says it well: "Even better, the tires offered substantial feedback to the point of where it was easy to dial in the necessary inputs to keep the car running near the edge, although I don’t think I was completely getting the most out of the tires. The level of feedback was somewhat confusing considering that the tires were soft and grippy. I didn’t expect it at all once I started driving, but Bridgestone made it happen." They are soft, but that doesn't mean they lack in feedback

You still need to wait a few hundred miles to get the best feel of the tire once its broken in. I get my set tomorrow

Thanks for the quick review!

I just ordered some 215 RE11As today. I have 225/255 RE01Rs on the wheels I just got, but due to my untouched fenders, I decided to downsize the fronts. Can't wait to get them. I loved my last RE11s, they were my favorite compared to AD08s, SS's, RS3s and XS's (all street driving). Bridgestone really knows how to make an extremely grippy tire that has some great road manners.

Oh, and I'm loving Bridgestone's new pricing on the RE11A!
