Default buying used RE71R's, i could use some help!

hey guys, i went to my first autox... with 2 different brand all season tires. somehow i managed to pick up over 3 seconds over the course of 6 runs and im happy with that but i know i can do much better with tire.

someone is offering to sell my a square wheel setup for my s.. on ap1 wheels, with RE71R's... i believe 215/45/16. he said they have about 30 runs on them...

how many typical autox runs will one see from these tires? as in, when will i need another set?! lol....

and,

what do you feel that set is worth??

Thanks in advance for any information!

If they've just been autocrossed, then buy them based on useable tread...as long as there isn't any damage. Look at the tread they have left, and consider that they have 30 runs on them. That will give you an idea of how long you can use them.

Wear slows down after 1/2 life.

Autocross courses are all different in length and type of pavement and type of course. So...30 runs doesn't mean that much.

okay a little more info... its 225's... and i was mistaken he said just under 20, about 18 or so give or take.. i asked (and this man seems very very nice, honest, i believe he is in his 60's so this isnt some young twat trying to sell a noob like me a set of wheels) how many "theoretical" runs i could get out of them, and he said "well that all depends, you could probably get about 100-120, but you will see the tires start to feel bad around the "theoretical" 80-90 mark...

lol this is ridiculous that i had him explain the wear in hypothetical autox runs, but hell... it worked out mentally for me!

so, does this help with a theoretical price??

Why theorize?

How much tread depth is left?

Wheels by themselves are probably 250-300ish (since they're square).

Depending on the tread depth, this guy is probably asking a fair price.

Who cares how many theoretical runs are on them? There's no consistency in what is considered a "run". Its not a unit.

I would be concerned with these tires cycling out. These are being pushed, not just street driven. In that regard thread depth is pretty arbitrary, so yeah it would be a valid question for me as well.

Heat cycled at an autocross?!

Even if that were likely....what does "20 runs"? Or whatever even mean?

Its like saying I have some tires that have driven 75 dinosaur fields. For 85 foot years per cabbage.
