This is one of the most absurd things I've ever heard. The tires will not make your car faster. They are 10mm wider, and will give you a tiny bit more traction which will affect handling a little but will have little if any impact on acceleration since the S2000 doesn't really have an issue with getting traction while accelerating. Expect all tires to be a little bit greasy until they have been heat cycled a few times.

Threadstarter - keep in mind actual tire width varies based on manufacturer. For example, stock Potenzas on an AP1 are 225s, but they are the size of most 245s (iirc).
Edit: Tire rack, and most other vendors, have the actual specs on their site. Also can be found in S2ki's wheel & tire subforum.
