Car And Driver tests the benefit of lightweight wheels.
Interesting read and great article that confirms what we already knew. 1 second improvement in acceleration is huge.

Going from OEM and WORK XD9 cast wheels to my WedsSport TC105N flow-form aka rotary forged wheels was night and day and it's good to see them confirm it wasn't just in my head.

Just make sure to realize those numbers are extremely exaggerated. Those are 6th gear pulls, and the braking is just a neutral coast down to show a difference. I would wonder in true acceleration if it's even .1 seconds faster.

each wheel-and-tire assembly is effectively a flywheel that impedes acceleration and hampers braking

Except they aren't braking. They're coasting down in neutral. No duh the super sticky, wider tire on the GT350R is going to have more rolling resistance than the narrower, less sticky tire on the GT350, not to mention the bigger treadblocks on the R too.
This is a worthless 'test.'

C&D did the test.
They did it to get clicks.
