I just had mine installed (AP1 OEM sizing) by John Welch Automotive in Franklin, NC- top shelf installer and a shop I highly recommend. I then had lunch at Caffe Rel. Filled, I went and tried the tires out in the dry on Ellijay, Canada Rd, 215, blue ridge, 28 etc etc etc. Then drove home 650 miles, nearly all interstate. Quick note, these are quiet tires on the freeway- then again, i never noticed my z2's or RS-3's either.

This was dry weather driving only. The Continental Extremecontact tires performed very well- I am critical of tire performance (I've never bought anything but 200 UTQG or R compound tires) and was apprehensive buying these. These tires offered 95% of the performance of my previous Z2's and RS-3's for road use. Excellent tires with great grip when driven with great verve. The only perceptible difference over those other 200 UTQG tires is a little (and I mean a little, perhaps 95% of the feel) side wall flexure demonstrated by a minimally more "squishy" turn in feel". This was only manifested at initial turn in and did not translate thru the entire turn. I never felt that the rear end had this same feel- I can't explain that- these felt no different than my previous z2's or RS-3's.

My only complaint is the side walls don't look as cool as other tires. Do yourself a favour- try these tires and be impressed. I will buy these tires again until something else comes along at a similar price point.

I sorely tempted. I'm beginning to think that tires I have used with wider tread width up front may be the culprit.
I wonder, could I put 205/17 conti's up front? Will they work on my ce-28 wheels which have 7.5 rim width up front? With the 255/17s in the rear, it looks like the tread widths would just about match the OEM RE050 ap2 tread widths. But, would the fronts be stretched?

You can definitely run your previous set up of 225/45r17 and 255/40r17 on the AP2V3s. I have a set of federal RS-R in those sizes on my V3s without any issue. Thinking about picking up a set of the extremecontact sports for my V3's as I just got a flat, rainy season is coming and Hankook's rebate on Ventus V12's expired yesterday.
