Default The Dealer Scratched My Rims!!!

I had some S-02s dropped shipped to my dealer who indicated that they had the right equipment to put the tires on without scratching the rims. Surprise, I just had it done this morning and the rims are now scratched - is anyone aware of any product that could help take out some of these scratches?

I would insist that the dealer take care of this. Discount gouged one of my rims fixing a flat. They offered to fix the wheel or sell me my next set of tires at cost.

I don't think I'm going to get anywhere with the dealer - I already had some "issues" with them when they replaced my top and scratched every piece of plastic in the car in the process. I frankly went to them instead of a tire specialty shop because of all of the negative things that happened to people on the board.

I guess there's nothing I can do to reduce some of the scratches? Does this mean every time we need new tires, our rims will just get more and more destroyed? The dealer spent over two hours changing just two tires so I wonder if this is the best as it gets with these type of alloy wheels?

Thanks for your help!

Same Here they scratched my rims and told me it was a standard factory casting flaw...

But check out my post, they also dented the car as they did to someone else on the board..

My dealer is soooo good. They referred me to two reputable places in town with the right equipment to mount the tires properly.

I wish all dealers were as good as West Side....

I wish you luck with your situation.

Your rims can be refinished for about $150 per rim. Your dealer is balking because of the price, so stay on it until they cough it up. If they don't come through, call the BBB and American Honda. There is no excuse for that kind of sloppiness.

As Sondra points out your rims can be refinished, and the cost is about $150. Be forewarned that the rim will look slightly different from the others as a small amount of metal is removed by a CNC machine. I had 1 rim refinished in this fashion and though it looked better than a large scratch, it was not the same as the other rims. I wound up buying another (used) rim to replace it. I'm glad that I did so because the clear coat is now peeling off the previously damaged rim (now used with autocross tires).

Since then, I have the manager of the tire shop (or dealer) personally inspect each rim before servicing and explain that replacement is the only option in the case of damage so that there is no doubt if a problem occurs. If the manager will not agree to this I go somewhere else.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their thoughts. I did find a wheel repair shop that would do the work for about $185 per tire and since it probably won't look perfect, I'm going to muddle through the Spring and use this as an excuse to my wife to get some SSRs. Maybe by then the 18 inch rims will be out.

Thanks again, another lesson learned.

P.S.
Believe it or not I checked the driver side rear quarter panel and it was dinged in the same exact spot! Dent Wizards could only get about 80% of it out. Oh well, tough to notice when you're doing 80.
