Default does 255/35-18 require fender mod?

i tried to select the optional tire choice on Tire Rack (selected through the S2Ki Upgrade Garage link). for the rear, 255/35-18, Tire Rack had the following warning at the top:

Rear: Aggressive fitment. Will require fender modification for proper clearance.

i will be running +55. based on the 'sticky', i shouldn't need any fender mod. is Tire Rack's message some form of just legal disclaimer? in reality, it should work?

thanks.

No," I have a 8.5 +55 wheel with a 255 35 bfg kdw2 and it just clears my stock fender. I am running UK camber specs though, which are -1 front and -2 rear to do this.

With the lower offset wheels the 255 can rub. I have had a few cars with the 17X9 ET 55 hit some times. A lot depends on the size of the specific tire and the camber that the car is running.
If I can help let me know.

thanks. i just talked to jim at Tire Rack. he clarified that choosing 8.5" width at +53 would clear. (i was thinking 9.5" then 9.0" for the rear; unnecessary)

Aviator, what size fronts are you going with? I would try to keep the same ratio of stagger as stock configuration. Best of luck with your choice of HRE's!

i ran +52 volks in the rear and i needed a ROLL and tab relocation when running 255/35/18 BFG gforce sports.

My car was lowered with aggressive 2.5 degrees of camber.

steven, here are the specs:

front: 18x7.5, +55; 225/40
rear: 18x8.5, +53; 255/35

do these make sense?

thanks.

henry.
