putting them on early june once my wheels come back from powdercoating, but reviews have been stellar. from websites and forum members.
heard they run a bit narrow though.
Check out the Nexen SUR4 if you want something closer to a RE71R for cheap.

Yeah, the word "Firestone" on the sidewall def lacks street cred lol. But, its' shape, the very rounded-off shoulders, and the big blocky tread pattern makes up for it.. looks way more aggressive than say PSS, S04, DW etc. Looks very similar to Ext Perf tires, than UHP or MP tires..that is street cred enough. The people behind you at a stoplight can def see those big tread blocks

This is the wrong car for those concerned with street cred anyway. S owners should all embrace their inner ricer

my thoughts exactly! Screw the Firestone on the sidewall, that sexy ass aggressive tread is where it's at!

Very excited to get them on the s2k

The s2k definitely has street cred. I have a mk7 golf r as well, and no one cares about it when I drive around lol
But with the s2k, without fail you get people asking you questions and giving you thumbs up all the time!

I'm having trouble finding these tires in stock. Rears are back ordered and only 1 front available and it's on tire rack. 22545/17 255/40/17.

www.simpletire.com looks to have them instock with free shipping and a 60 dollar rebate. A little hard to find but search for them individually by size.

Nexen tires make more noise than traction.

I've had the FHI500 on the front of my daily for about 600 miles. they are very nice. they shed water like no other. I think this tire is nearly MPSS quality in the rain.

I've had these tires since March, they are my daily/wet track day tires. I've used them for one track day (was cold but ended up not raining) and they held up great, doesn't have the ultimate traction of the top tier EHP 200TW tires, but they were'nt far off. They handle perfectly in the rain, and for daily driving duties. They are not overly loud (my Z2SS are much louder) and they performed great on a recent group drive in the twisties. Can't comment on longevity as I have approx 500 miles on them.

The SUR4 is supposedly the Hankook RS3 v2 compound, they are not like older Nexens. They are quicker than the Firehawk, at least from my experience running them.

Here, have a tirerack review.

Just wanted to chime in, i actually tracked firestone's all season tires on the stock ap1 wheels and they actually held up pretty well LOL. Anyways those died recently so I got a pair of these just on the rear for the moment and wow do they grip really well on the street at least. I would say they have a pretty similar feel to my old star spec v2's. And yes who cares about the brand when the tires look great and perform well at their price point. The ap1 stocks actually look nice and aggressive with its beefy sidewall
