Unfortunately, I hurt my motor so it sounds like I won't get to try mine this season. Guessing September at the earliest. Welp.

So had my first track day with these tires this past Saturday, unfortunately the weather was not ideal (temps were in the mid 20's to start off the day, and maxed out in the low 40's) so hard to do a good comparison. As is expected, the tires did not have great grip for the first few laps in the opening session (temps were about 25* F to start) and I was tentative pushing them. As the day continued and the temps increased, the tires performed better and better. I will say they have significantly more grip than my previous tires (Dunlop Direzza Z2 StarSpecs) and I was having trouble even exceeding the available grip once warmed up. As others have mentioned they are very loud, almost have a howling/siren sound when on streets, but it was not overly annoying and didn't even notice this when actually on the track. I also noticed that these are "wide" 255's, they are definitely wider than the Dunlops and rubbed where the Dunlops did not, again not really a negative, just something to keep in mind. Will be doing some AutoX in a couple of weeks, so hopefully the weather is more cooperative and I can make a better comparison.

I've run a 'loud' tire before, the Nexen SUR4. I'm curious how these compare... the Nexens to something like a RE71R or RT615K would be like comparing a car with bad wheel bearings to a normal car.
Not a big deal, but being able to leave the earplugs out on drives to further the tracks is nice.

I'm mounting mine tomorrow in prep to run NASA at Chuckwalla next weekend, we shall see how they work. I've got RT615Ks that just hit the wear bars, but they are noticeably heatcycled out after 6 days.
Since it was called out that they are wide I'm going to measure them.

The 255/40 is roughly the same width, if not a quarter of an inch more narrow on a 9" wheel than a RT615K.

Thanks, I didn't think to measure before I did mine, but it seems to be slightly wider than my outgoing Z2SS due to some more rubbing. Will be interested in your results with them next weekend, I will also be doing a track day next weekend at Eagles Canyon Raceway, unfortunately it will be my first time on this track so it will be difficult to compare lap times versus the Z2SS, but should have some better feedback with the tires in more favorable weather (highs are supposed to be in the upper 50's to low 60's).
