So im replacing the rear tires on my car. Whoever owned it before me put 225 50/16s all the way around with Kumho Supras. I was looking to put 245 45 on the rear (as has been indicated on the forum) but Kumho doesnt make a Supra in 245 45. Also, i drive alot of miles so getting super stickys with low tire life isnt my ideal pick. The Supras are relatively cheap and they lasted a good time, what would be some good alternatives?

You should replace the fronts with 205-55/16, keep the current front tires to replace the rear tires when it is needed.

thats a good point, the rears are exactly what im replacing. However, i noticed with those supras that the tread on the fronts are narrower than those on the back... so I dont know if there would be repercussions from using htose on the back or not. Opinions?

The OEM S02 tires are staggered: Front: 205-55/16 and Rear: 225-50/16.
If you have all four corners with Kumho 712 in size 225-50/16, your car will be overly over-steer in corner.
You need narrower front tires, 205-55/16 is correct size for your front.

Which Kumho do you have. They do make the Supra 712 in the 245/45R16 but not the MX. I would recommend to go with either the 712 in the 245/45R16 or the MX in a 205/55R16 to get back to a stagger front and rear.

Its the Kumho Ecsta Supra 712. It has the "tread gap" that runs thru the middle of the tire. I would like to put the fronts on the rear, however... things are tight for me right now so Im gonna have to go 1 and 1 and pick up the other one next week. Sucks I know but hey, what else can I do. So I pretty much have to put 245s on the back and replace the fronts next and be careful with the setup until I swap them out. Im a good driver so I know not to push too hard. I was also looking at the new Fuzion tires... are those any good? Other recommendations>?

You have 4 Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 in size 225/50-16 on the car right now, and you are a little tight on budget right now, then the least costly for you is replacing two fronts with Kumho 712 in size 205/55-16 to get back to the stagger. Since rears are known to wear out twice as fast as of fronts, when the current rears are gone you can use the extra 225/50-16's that you take out of the fronts to use on the rears. After both fronts and rears are gone, you can try 225/50-16 and 245/45-16 of any brand you like. Remember that, this is the least costly to your pocket for the next few years.
