A few years back, I put AP2v1's on my AP1 and now the tires need replacing. I live in Chicago, but only drive during the spring/summer/fall and sometimes in rain. I currently have Yokohma Avid Envigors on, and while I like them, they are about $133 for the rears and $98 for the fronts at Tire Rack. Are there any other brands anyone can recommend? I don't do any autocross and I really don't drive agressively, but I'd like some tires that'll last me a few seasons.

I always buy the most aggressive tires I can afford- UTQG 200. I want the most traction available- even for cruising and just driving around because I drive like a hooligan most of the time. Tires are THE most important performance item you can buy for your car. Good tires mean your car will respond to what you tell it to do from braking to turning to driving in the rain. Being as you mentioned the price, is price your first consideration?

That being said, what about a 340 UTQG tire, like the new Continental Sport Contact- good price point and its been talked about on this forum favourably.

I am a victim of have too many tire/wheels options. I have a set of Yoko Avid Envigors on a MY06 with AP2V2 wheels which were purchased new, tires wear somewhat well but they tend to make road noise after 5000kms. Not anywhere as grippy as a UTQG 200 tire like Darcy mentioned. I also have a set of really grippy new Bridgestone RE050 tires on a set of AP2V3 wheels that I use on a MY03, not as good as many of the new max performance tires but will stick fairly well and are the OEM tire. I have one more set of Hankook Ventus V12 EVO's on a set of AP2V1 wheels also used on a MY03, tires have about 50% tread left but grip pretty well for what state they are in. Too many choices are available so I would just read all the feedback from real life S2K owners and make your best decision. Good luck.

I mentioned price only because that's how much exact replacements cost. I really have no starting point and I had no issues with the Yokohamas. I Like the way they look on the car and the tread pattern looks neat too.

Hankook v12 evo2 have a promo right now. You buy a set of four. $100 rebate.

Bridgestone S-04 tires in "CR" spec on my 2006 right now. (215F/255R.) Recommend them and these sizes. Replaced the no longer available RE-11A tires a few months ago. I'm in Cleveland so we have the same seasonal weather.

Bridgestone and Continental are doing a $70 rebate right now as well. Great time to buy.

See if there os a tirerack warehouse you can pick them up, save a bunch on shipping.

Anything in the max performance summer should more than suit your performance needs, and still last a while if driven like a normal street car most of the time.

Bridgestone S04 or the new Continental Extreme Contact. The new Firestone Firehawk FF500 (NOT the musclecar Firehawk Indy 500) is popular, and inexpensive (though lately very tough to find).

if you are not trying to break the bank, firestone indy 500s. S04s after that, Michelin PS after those.

i dont recommend all season tires on the car. as long as you are not driving around in anything below 50 degrees, summer tires are some of the best in rain.

After reading some reviews and watching a few videos, I've purchased the Hankook V12 Evo2 from tire rack. They seem to offer a great blend of steering precision, summer performance and good grip in wet weather. As far as picking them up versus getting them delivered, it was only $12 less to pick them up, but I'd spend more than that on gas to go from Chicago to South Bend. Now I need to decide where to get them installed at the best price.
