New old stock tires - RE71R
Got a set of RE71R's for my S2K,
ordered beginning of the week, got them last night -
Two rears manufactured 15th week of 2017,
Two front's manufactured 24th week of 2015 (!!)
don't want to give away the vendor from which i purchased the tires,
but wanted to get your opinion - does this make sense, to order a new, very common, very popular tire and get a 2 YO-stock tire?

Not really much of a mystery. They've been out of stock. Bridgestone hasn't shipped fresh ones for a while. Someone had a set pair around from an old cancelled order...or someone literally had some sitting in their basement or something.

I think I'd be pretty disappointed, since my S2000 gets maybe 2000-3000 miles a year and my tires will typically end up being tossed because of age rather than wear.
Well, maybe not the rears.

Same thing happened to me. Ordered new RE-71Rs from Costco last month. They received old tires (manufactured in 2015) from the warehouse and sent them back. Had to wait an extra week but I was glad to have the new tires.

not sure how can they be out of stock - this is the most popular tire for S2K auto-crossing...

1. Would expect it to be the opposite - for such a popular tire, no old stock should remain, it would have been cleared way before
2. as TireRack knows the use of this tire and its importance - they would alert buyers that they are getting two years old rubber instead of fresh ones

I'd just use them. If they're from tirerack, its likely they were stored properly anyway.
Bridgestone is bad with keeping up with demand. So...they've been on backorder almost constantly since they came out. You could buy them in like....2 month windows before they went on backorder again.
