The added lateral grip far exceeds any drag deficits caused by rolling resistance. This isn't a Miata, our motor actually makes power, and more then enough to overcome 10-50mm of extra tire width. Remember too, that a typical camber alignment of -2/-3 reduces approx. 25mm of the tires strait line contact patch. Also contrary to what you may have heard or believe, 295-315's width tires with tuned N/A isn't as uncommon as you might think. It actually performs exceedingly well on road course or Auto X environments. Takes a little longer to heat up on the street, but then again you aren't looking for 10/10 adhesion levels on the street either. More rubber does take longer to wear out though, so that's not a bad thing either MPG? who cares about that.
