Default Please help me select sizes

My car:

Lowered about about 1-1.25 all around on tein flex with the edfc.
Spoon Calipers in the front
400 whp Vortech v2

What I use the car for:
Spirited drives
Auto-crosses
Occasional track days (2-3 a year)

Current wheels:
Advan Rg2's
17x7.5 +45 with a 15 mm spacer in the front
17x8.5 rear+50

I want to buy some volk ce28's but I am getting completely overwhelmed with the amount of sizes. I want a 17 inch, that's a definite.

This is what I want, please help me:

I want a wider tire in the rear. Nothing crazy though, and something that is completely functional. I want it to sit flush on the fender though, but nothing that will ultimately destroy my fender. Nothing hellaflush either as I can't stand that. I just want it to sit flush, maybe a TAD poke but anything more than a TAD and I'll hate it, but again, must be functional.

I found two great sets for sale....please help me decide between the two. Do I want a 17x7.5 +50 17x63 in the rear and go with a nice 255 tire just in the rear with a 245 in the front? Or do I wanna go with say a 17x9.5 +40 all around set up with a 255 on all fours? Will that give me too much poke that I'm terrified to have? I'm nervous about the fronts...and at +40 I still think I need to run a spacer to clear the fronts.

Please shoot me some insight. I'm torn, but the deals are so good, it's hard to pass.

Thanks in advance,

Eric

The first set should not have a 245 on the front. Way to much tire for a 7.5 inch wide wheel. That set up will need the least amount of work and will allow you to comfortable run a 255 rear and 225 front.

The second set is very agressive for the front. It can fit on the rear but you are looking at 2.5-3 degrees of camber. It won't fit without a big fender pull on the front or a ton of camber plus a smaller tire. A 255 will not fit on the front with those wheel specs.

If you want a square setup the best in those wheels would be one of these options

Volk Racing CE28N 17x9.5 / 5x114.3 / Offset +47
Volk Racing CE28N 17x9 / 5x114.3 / Offset +54
Volk Racing CE28N 17x9 / 5x114.3 / Offset +40

You could also do a staggard setup like 245 front and 255 rear with these wheels
Volk Racing CE28N 17x9 / 5x114.3 / Offset +40
Volk Racing CE28N 17x10 / 5x114.3 / Offset +45

If you are trying to look for used sets you are going to be waiting a while as you said there is a lot of options out there.

You mentioned a spacer why do you need a spacer?

One other option is use your current rear wheels as fronts and buy 2 in this size for the rear. You will need a to roll and relo the tab as well as run camber but it may provide the aggressive setup you want.
Advan RG II Wheel 17x9.5 / 5x114.3 / Offset + 35

So if I went with the 17x9.5 all around, should I run a 245 in the front and a 255 in the rear? Would that be my best bet for fitment?

I would keep them fully square so maybe a 245 all around. you will have to roll and pull the front and rear though.

Even with the 245's the fronts are still very agressive. You would likely need 2.5-3 degrees of camber for the front to fit.

Don't forget the added room needed for the spoon front calipers the op stated when making the recommendation. That is going to complicate fitment when trying to maximize available width rubber options.

The 10" +45 or 9.5 +47 in the rear would be the best choice for a 255 fitment. Just the typical roll and bumper mount relocate would be needed. The 10" will poke a little, but its nice to have the extra 1/2" pull on the sidewall to get the most out of the tire, so its the most functional, but the 9.5 is totally suitable and a little less aggressive looking at the fender line if that's a concern.

I think its going to be a struggle to accommodate a 255 up front when considering the width and offset needed to clear the calipers and fenders both. I'm not seeing a good wheel size option with whats been stated so far. A 245 up front on a ap2 is a great option however when coupled with a 255 rear, and the 9 +40 would accommodate it, wile making room for the calipers, a fender roll and slight pull will be needed though.

Front and rear camber for these spec wheels will need to be about -2.5.

I believe the ce28n in the 17x9.5 + 47 will clear the spoon calipers correct?
