Default Quick check on bigger tires on my 18" wheels

Hey guys!

I am running aftermarket 18" wheels on my S, as it is right now it is sitting on 215/40r/18 in front and 245/35r/18 in the back.... I am gonna switch to 235/35r/18 in front and 265/35r/18 in the back....

My car is lowered 1.5' on aftermarket springs. the wheels I have are I believe +48 8' wide in the front and +55 8.5' in the back

yes i know that the tire sizes are a little over sized for the wheels (this is the max max tire size for these widths of wheels)

This is what the old tires looked like , the new tires are 20mm wider.... will they fit and not rub? Do I need to roll the fenders?

thx for the help dudes

I would definitely roll the fenders if the offsets and widths you listed are correct. However, 235/35/18 is a very uncommon tire size and the 265/35/18 is taller than stock tire height by a half inch. A compromise you could take is to run a 225/40/18 on the front and 255/35/18 on the rear. These sizes are slightly narrower, but have many more tread pattern options.

^Do this. I don't understand why people try to cram a tire that is to wide for the wheels they have. You are actually softening the sidewall due to the tire bubbling. You basically have stock width wheels so stick to close to stock tire sizes.

Yeah interesting to see how often it’s one extreme or another. The sweet spot just doesn’t seem to be found often enough. Not sure exactly why. It does take some time to deduct what you need to know to fit and maximize wheels and tires on this car I guess, and most people got a wad burning a hole in their pocket it seems and don’t take that time. Those are the same guys that seem to go through 2-3 different sets of wheels before they figure it out too. I don’t have that kind of money to waste myself.

hmm, ok thx for the feedback guys.

I don't like spending money on tires that get burned off in 1 year. I picked up this set of tires for super cheap and I like the idea of a super low price and a wider tire the set brand new cost me $380 2nd hand.

It will still be cheaper to use these tires and roll the fenders. Guess it will go on the list for the body shop
