Good to know, ty! I had my last set of RE71's installed at a Firestone. They didn't like pinching a 245 onto my fronts very much and told me so but they did the job.

bridgestone retail operations owns firestone complete autocare centers. the re71r's are generally stock in firestone warehouses as they are the same company (trust me i work for bridgestone). so yea, the re71r's are 100 off a set of 4 with the current promotion if they are cashed out by the end of the sale which is sunday.

btw regardless of what a lot of people have said the indy 500's are originally based off of the bridgestone potenza 760 sport but with updated tire technology. for the money its pretty hard to beat but it is technically based off an older tire and not nearly as good as the 71r

The two tires are completely different and I take issue with the "not nearly as good" characterization. The 71r is a soft compound track type tire. Personally I would not want such a tire for street use. I would much prefer a tire like the Indy 500 for street use. So, from my perspective, I would say the 71r is not nearly as good as the Indy 500, (for street use). But the reality is they are both fine tires just for different things.

Looks like this sale requires in store mounting and balancing. The car I am thinking about is in storage now and the nearest Firestone store is more than an hour away. If I could just buy the tires I would run down and do some other errands at the same time. But, it appears that is not possible.

Thanks all for the info. I ended up doing a $100 rebate from Costco and they're willing to mount/balance for me. I just had to drop off the wheels separate of the car. Rebate program runs through early April.
