Default Seeking Input on Proper Tire Size

In the market to purchase a new set of tires and have been trying to read up on what my best option is but would like some feedback before making the 'big' purchase...

Background: the S is a weekend car that doesn't see rain. Fenders are rolled and am open to relocating rear tabs if needed. Other than some spirited driving, no AutoX or track days. Comfort is valued, MPG is not.

Current Wheels: Work CR Kai, 18x8.5 +43 (Front), 18x9.5 +38 (Rear). The wheels were on the car when purchased.

The tires I'm looking at are 235/ 40? in Front, 255/ 35? in Rear. Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 from Tire Rack are currently in the cart..

I'm open to any constructive feedback

Do you want grip or mileage? Not a fan of those tires for grip. Considering your limited use and weather conditions for the car id opt for something in the EP line. with aggressive toe/camber you can get 10k miles on the low end with EP tires and 20k on the higher end. How many miles in a year you put on your car? Do you want it to perform, or do you just cruise? Do you prefer to run a set of tires till they wear out from age or wear? If you cant get 20k miles on your car in 5-6 years, then get the softest stickiest best performing tires you can afford.

Thanks for the quick reply, Junky.
- A balance of MPG and grip. Only cruise but that's not to say a curvy road is ignored.
- Relatively new owner @ 5 months but would approximate 7k/ year
- Mileage/tread wear historically has been the motive for new tires.

What about the sizes themselves? Seems appropriate for the wheels?

I am not a tire expert but at those sizes I would be looking at the mpss, s04, new conti extremecontact sports or the firehawk indy 500's which get decent reviews and are under $500.

Yep.

EP tires don't seem necessary (or warranted) for your needs.

Thanks OSU and Cody for the feedback.

The price for the firehawk indy 500's sure is attractive and the ratings are similar to the mpss... Any obvious differences I should note when deciding between the two aside from the speed ratings? Are the Michelin's more expensive primarily because of popularity?

Still open to feedback on the tire sizes themselves

225/40 should be a closer match to 255/35 for diameter. Just go to tire rack and down to the tire specs tab. Tons of info there.

Firehawks are $407 for 225/255
MPSS $762
Contis $688

I am most likely going with Contis in the 225/255 size but 17'' rim. Just waiting for more reviews before pulling the trigger.
