Spare Tire

My spare tire is now 11 years old. Have any of you replaced your tire yet?

It stays in the trunk, where its not exposed to the damaging effects of the sun. Plus I don't really care if its lost a lot of traction capacity due to aging rubber. If I have to use it, it will be a very short time, and at very gentle speeds.

So no, I don't have any plans to change it anytime soon. If mine was showing concerning signs of aging, I'd just look for a late model 'used' one (one that's probably never been used from a wrecked car.)

I bet the same size donut tire, on a wheel with the same bolt pattern, could be found in a lot of cars, not just Hondas...

I had the same concern. Replacement from Tire rack is about $125 + installation cost and hassle. Also the fact that it has to be put on the front only (front swapped to rear) means I decided to leave the OEM spare as is... and got a tire inflation pump (12V USB powered). it is nice and compact. Fits perfectly in the center of the trunk between the tools (as if OEM). And useful for checking and updating tire pressures at home.

This is the one I got. Highly recommend it.

Oh yeah forgot we had one of these. In 15 years and over 250k miles I've never had a flat on this car, knock on wood. I have one in storage somewhere though. Its dead weight along with all the tools. AAA card is much lighter.:p
