Taking my own medicine: patch vs replace?

If you only have 2200 miles on the tire it would be safe to replace one tire. Also if the hole was in the tread a plug and patch is the best way to do it . The tire does lose its speed rating when they are repaired. That said, if you are not taking the car to the track I would probably try to go with the flow and keed an eye on the air pressure.
If I can help let me know.
Thank you

I live in Hawaii and the local Firestone wanted to charge me $400.00 for just ONE s-02 . So I called up Tirerack and got TWO s-02's for $450.00 shipped. Tirerack is awesome! I got great service from the sales rep. and love the price. Anytime I need new tires, Tirerack has got my business. I've been running on a patched tire for a while and no problem yet. But I'd rather be safe than sorry. Could a patched tire blow at high speeds? It's just something that I heard before. I like to drive hard sometimes, through the turns or an open stretch of roads. I don't want to lose a tire at a high speed corner.

Sounds like there are two issues: patching and tire wear.
I think you're fine if the tire was patched competently, considering the location of the patch and since it sounds like you drive fairly conservatively (it's all relative you know... ). If you were going to be in a lot of life-on-the-line situations (...track) it might be different.
I think people getting 4400 miles on their tires ("2200 miles as half-worn") must be on the track a lot or driving fairly aggressively.
I have over 16,000 miles on my original SO2s, down to the wear bars, still fine for day to day driving, but I have to be careful when cornering hard. I won't drive in the rain until get new tires.
Anyway, I think you're okay driving on them for a while. Maybe just keep an eye on tire pressure.

you could always use up the repaired tyres doing donuts, skidpan stuff or whatever. You shouldn't be at much risk if the repair gave out, and think of the fun factor using them up!
