Default Tire recommendations for street use

I have a 2007 AP2 with Dunlop Direzza Z1's. I strongly dislike these tires and am going to get rid of them before I finish the rest of the tread. They slip sideways suddenly and quietly, unless they are really hot. If they slipped more and allowed me to drift it around the corner that wouldn't be so bad (not that this is my intention), but they only slip about a foot or two and then they grip again. I'm basically just tired of slipping sideways through intersections. I suspect they are better suited for track use than street use. They are great in the mountains when I push the car hard in the corners, but I only go there 2 or 3 times a year, so the rest of the time the Direzzas seem inappropriate.

I live in North Carolina and the car will never see snow or even rain for that matter. I won't be using the car on a track. I do drive aggressively on the street, and I do take corners hard, but where I live is mostly without curves so I don't need anything crazy. I'm looking for something that has an attractive tread pattern, a reasonable price, and is still somewhat aggressive without the need to heat them up first. Road noise and tread wear aren't a big deal since I only drive the car about 7500 miles a year and its my weekend car.

Thanks!

PS buy my old Direzzas

Before you ditch the tires get your alignment checked out. If I had to guess, something is going on with your toe in the rear.

Good idea, I should clarify though, if I'm driving like a normal human being it doesn't slip out, it's only when I'm going around the corner very aggressively.

Tires are probably not sticky enough to corner at high speeds

I just looked it up and that's a gorgeous looking tire!

Edit: it looks like that tire is only available in a width slightly larger that the stock tire size, is it ok to go a tiny bit wider?

Is it ok to run 235's on the front and 255's on the back on stock ap2 rims? I wonder if that would affect handling..

Do you have to get them hot before they get grippy?
