Tires question
So i've decided that my next step for s2k is going to be rims and tires, i'm planning on running enkei rpf1s 17x8 front and 17x9 in the rear +45 all around. I want to run 225/45/17 front and 255/45/17 rear. The car is a summer daily driver and is my occasional track car (3-4 track days a year). What are some tires that you guys would reconmmend? And would you guys suggest getting used rims with tires still have a little life in them? My budget for new rims and tires is roughly $2000 but i really don't want to reach that. Any help is appreciated!

P.S. On a side note, if i get used rims i'm most likely getting silver because that seems to be the most common colour for used rpf1s, but would you guys reconmmend gold or silver? If i do get them new

First off, you will want to do a 255/40/17 on the rear. As far as used wheels, I would be wary especially if you are buying them sight unseen. It is near impossible to tell if wheels are bent via pictures and usually require being put up on a balancer to be sure. Lastly, make sure you roll your fenders and relocate your bumper tab BEFORE you put the wheels on.

What's the difference between 255/45/17 and 255/40/17? And the wheels i'm planning to buy it locally if i get them used so i can make sure everything is fine with them. I do plan to roll my fenders because of the wider setup but do i need to relocate my bumper tab? i want to minimize cost as much as possible.

Dunlop Z2, Bridgestone Re-11a, and Hankook RS3 would all be good choices. For longer treadlife but less performance you could go with Michelin Pilot Super Sports or Bridgestone Re760.

If you are planning on tracking it, then I believe the z2, rs3, or rivals are all great choices. If you are looking for more of a street tire that can handle a little bit of track action then the Michelin super sport is ok. There is a guy near me who runs them for an occasional track day, and while he can't keep up with people with sportier tires, he does ok.
