Max Performance category is filled with tires that really aren't that good. The Contis have always been a step or two behind the Michelins in that class. If the P4S came in a 16" size, it would have been a clear first choice.

I've used the prior Conti DW on an MB. It was ok, but I wouldn't have felt its steering sharp enough for the S2000. Given the very limited selection of 16" sizes, the S007A seems closer to a Max than an Extreme. The RE11a was similar.

The Dunlop would be even sharper. But it is more expensive, has a lower TW, and if a tread pattern similar to the RE71r (which I use), I'd expect it to be noisy, especially over concrete.

All of these tires are better than the original OEM nearly 20 years ago. IMHO, the S007A should be a lot closer to an update of the original S2000 handling than the Conti.

I agree on most points here but would like to point out that the new Conti ExtemeContact Sport is a much more direct and overall better dry handling tire than the predecessor DW while still being great in the wet. I have the Sports on my AP1 and would highly recommend them.

Can't agree with this. The new Conti ExtremeContact Sport is completely different, and a lot better, than the old DW. Its very misleading to compare the two. In my very humble opinion, given the more limited options available for 16" wheels, the Conti, or the Firehawks are the way to go for someone driving an S2k on the street with 16" wheels. Both great tires.

I am going to second this. I've had the Conti ExtremeContact Sports on my '03 S2K for almost 2 years now and they are pleasure to drive on. I just took her out for the first time in a few weeks since it's been raining so often here and I immediately said aloud "These tires are fantastic." and my daily driver doesn't have a bad set. I've never come close to losing grip after they've warmed up and I'm on a spirited drive up Palomar Mountain. Would absolutely buy again. Not sure how well they will wear but I don't put more than 5K miles on my S2K in a year.
