Default torquing lug nuts; or, lack of it!

hi guys. i need to swap out summer rims for the winter set. the blizzaks are mounted and balanced on the stock rims.

the neighborhood Jiffy Lube can do the job; but, their wheel guns are not torque wrenches. that is, they can't set a specific torque level. they can just bolt on the rims with no specific torque level. these guys offer to pick up the winter set from my apartment and drop the summer set back, which is the reason why i am inclined to use them.

so, the question is, would it be safe to bolt on the rims without the relevant torque level?

thanks guys.

henry.

wow, a big corporation like that install wheels and has no torque wrenches?
torquing is recommended.
you don't want them too tight nor not tight enough.
you can buy a cheap one from many auto part store for about $20.

thanks dude. that's a good idea (to get my own torque wrench) and let the Jiffy Lube guys use it. or, go to a different shop and get it done properly.

cheers.

You can maybe do the job yourself. Just like changing out a flat but x's 4. Assumming you're just switching the sets of rim with tires already mounted.

I wouldn't trust the Iffy Lube guys in my town to touch my car. Invest in a torque wrench and get a buddy to lend a hand, the peace of mind is well worth it.

Totally agree. I'm looking for a good torque wrench as well. Any recommendations under $100.00?
