i have 18x8.5+35 front and 18x9.5+30 rear. What tires would fit and look good on stock height or maybe an inch lower. I’m thinking 225/40 front and 255/40 rear?

You would want 255/35/18. 255/40/18 has too large of diameter.

Nothing would look or fit good because those wheels and offsets stick out way too far past the fenders. Running near stock ride height can help save your fenders but look like a swap buggy. You will have to run a 215 up front and a 235 in the rear with rolled fenders and a liberal amount of camber regardless. if you drop the car low enough to get the amount of camber you need to tuck, you can get your hellflush badge at the next meet.

If you are married to the wheels, look into getting some front and rear over fenders and then you could fit them with proper width tires and have a functioning good looking and performing S2000.

yea I wanted these type of wheels for a while now. How much from stock height do you think I could go down before I start rubbing and much more?

yea I was thinking 255/35 and 225/35 front. Or could the front clear 225/40?

Well its a bit of a conundrum. In order to get the tires to camber in more and not stick out as much you have to lower the car a liberal amount, but lowering the car means you dont have enough suspension movement before you hit your fenders if the wheels still stick out too far. So to try and get around this, you run undersized tires to get the sidewalls to stretch. Your best compromise is likely going to be dropping the car about 1.5" and max out the camber front and rear. The rears in this case are going to be the real challenge. Good luck.

Not sure you understand how the sidewall number works. If you want to keep the same diameter you need to do 225/40/18 fronts and 255/35/18 (I would actually do 245/40/18 since it will provide more room) rears. 225/35/18 is much smaller diameter than stock. Your going to need to pull the hell out of your fenders and run a lot of camber. Or buy wider fenders.

clearing is a completely different subject. It will take a lot of work to clear anything. For proper tire sizing you would want 225/40/18 & 255/35/18. It would be a little easier to fit a 215/40/18 & 245/35/18 but the tires would have a decent stretch on them, but they would still be within safe limits.
